The short version
If you ticked the box and gave a mobile number, Monty or someone on his team may call or text you about the book, the course and new writing. Reply STOP at any time and it ends immediately. You never had to tick the box to get anything.
Consenting
There are two places on this site where you can tick it: the form that requests your advance copy of Lending Unleashed, and the “Ask Monty” form. The box is optional on both, and it is never ticked for you.
On the advance copy form, first name, last name, email address and mobile number are all required, because each copy is prepared individually for the person named on it. Giving the number is required. Agreeing to be contacted with it is not. You get the book and the full course whether you tick the box or not.
On the Ask Monty form, the mobile number is optional altogether. If you give one without ticking the box, it is used to answer you and for nothing else.

What you will receive
Messages about the book and the course, including access links.
Occasional notes when new writing or new material is published.
Replies to a question you sent through the site.
Nothing about mortgages. No rates, no loan products, no lending offers, no applications. This consent covers the book and the writing, and that is all it covers. If that ever changes, you will be asked again — it is not something that can be added by editing this page.
How often
Message frequency varies. There is no set schedule; messages go out when there is something to say, which in practice is rarely. If it becomes more than you want, one reply ends it.
Automated technology
Messages may be sent using automated technology — that is, from a system that sends to a list rather than from someone typing each message individually. Ticking the box is your agreement to that. It is disclosed here plainly because the law requires it to be, and because you should know which kind of message you are agreeing to.
Costs
Message and data rates may apply. Those are set by your mobile carrier and have nothing to do with us.
Stopping
Reply STOP to any message. That ends all further messages to that number. You will get one confirmation that it worked, and then nothing further.

You can also write to [email protected] and ask to be removed.
Stopping text messages does not remove your access to the book or the course, and does not remove you from email. Those are separate.
Carriers
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is not guaranteed, and messages may not arrive in all areas or on all networks.
Your number
Your mobile number is treated as described in the Privacy Policy. It is not sold, and it is not passed to any third party for their own marketing.
The exact wording you agreed to
Whichever form you used, the wording you saw is recorded against your record along with the date and time, so that what you agreed to can be produced rather than described. Two wordings are in use, identical apart from one sentence.
